Scenic Views in Rancho Cucamonga
Rancho Cucamonga is not only known for its fine wine but its lovely scenery as well. The following are some of its most popular scenic views.
Cucamonga Peak
Standing at 8,862 feet on the San Gabriel Mountains, the Cucamonga Peak gives a breathtaking view of the clouds, the desert, and the Inland Empire. While the climb may be hard, the scenery is worth it, especially during sunrise and at sunset. It is, therefore, an ideal destination for hikers. When visiting the Cucamonga Peak, ensure that you have a parking pass for the parking lot and that you arrive early to find a parking spot. Entry to the Cucamonga Wilderness is free, but you will need a permit to get through. Fortunately, all you need to get the permit is to fill out a form. Camping at Cucamonga Peak is also possible as there are camping sites in the area. Do not forget to carry your snacks, water, and hiking gear.
Pacific Electric Inland Empire Trail
This 21-mile lane follows the path of the famous Pacific Electric Railway that stretched to San Bernardino from the coast. The train connects Rancho Cucamonga to cities such as Montclair, Fontana, and Upland. It is also convenient for jogging, horse riding, walking, and cycling. The trail also offers easy access to public facilities and workplaces by residents. For some, it is a good place to exercise and talk long walks while enjoying the scenery.
North Etiwanda Preserve
Created in 1998 for habitat preservation, the North Etiwanda Preserve has become a perfect place for hiking. Its most attractive feature is the Etiwanda Falls, with its beautiful thick, leafy, green vegetation inside the Cucamonga Wilderness. Besides beautiful sceneries, you will come across various historical sites such as water harvesting places in the form of canals and clay pipes that date to the late 1800s. There is so much to explore in the falls, the creeks, and the entire North Etiwanda Preserve. Ensure that you leave your car at the parking lot to avoid getting into trouble with the local police.
Claremont Hills Wilderness trail
This trail is a popular path found in the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park that stretches for about 5 miles and gives a lovely view of the Inland Empire as well as Claremont city. The trail is easy to navigate except for a few slightly steep areas. There are restroom areas and benches at some spots on the path where hikers can take a break, rest and enjoy the scenery. At two miles into the trail, you will have a perfect view of the Potato Mountain and San Gabriels Front Range. There is a gazebo with wooden seats along the path where you can rest and a water tower to help you stay hydrated. Besides the scenery, the park also has animals that you will find fascinating. The area has fewer people during the weekdays as compared to the weekends. Therefore, if you want to enjoy the park in solitude, weekdays would be perfect.
Rancho Cucamonga has a lot of exciting places like the potato mountains. Hence it is the best destination for a cheap but peaceful and fun vacation.
